Walls, windows and doors tell an imagined story of what has happened over the years, with nature adding a beautiful patina and complexity to the colours and materials in a way that only time can paint.

To echo the fragile nature of memories and how they can overlap, fade, and become a more beautiful version of themselves, these collages were constructed from a collection of images taken on film over the three years in Taiwan.

Using a simple vessel form as a metaphor for the human experience, Michael Miller creates images that examine how we continually adapt to the world around us. Relationships shift, circumstances evolve, and our sense of self is constantly being shaped by the environments we inhabit.

Across multiple series, the vessel is repeated, transformed and reconfigured — appearing to move, interact, dissolve and reform. The resulting works reflect the tension between movement and stillness, certainty and uncertainty, familiarity and transformation.
